The societal benefits associated with the new technology are related to the ability to design process plants that are inherently safer also from a HF perspective.  

The VIRTHUALIS technology will enable the transition from the present status of process industry to a more knowledge-based one by making the activities  related to design, risk assessment, operation,
training and maintenance more integrated.   

In fact, the  risk analysis tools can be used not only to assess the current level of risk in an industry, but also to design ‘safety barriers’ and to develop error management training programs.
